Introduction
Mental Health introduces you to mental health and mental ill-health in the context of contemporary nursing practice. The unit emphasises person-centred approaches to care, and highlights frameworks and guiding principles such as recovery oriented and trauma informed practice, as well as legislation. You will explore a range of mental health and the co-occurrence of physical health concerns, substance use and intellectual disability. You will be introduced to a range of therapeutic interventions, and assessment frameworks, tools and skills to support the care and attainment of mental wellbeing across clinical milieu and the lifespan, before examining the contribution of mental health nursing to the health and well-being of the community.
