Clinical Psychology unit (PSY305)

Introduction

This unit aims to introduce you to a range of psychiatric disorders including psychological symptoms, theoretical models, assessment and evidence-based treatments. Consideration is given to a range of cognitive-behavioural strategies employed by clinical psychologists and other mental health professionals in the treatment of various mental health conditions, as well as client and practitioner characteristics which may influence therapy. You will participate in practical classes, which will facilitate your understanding of a range of psychological and psychiatric disorders, as well as developing your ability to appropriately engage with clients and to reflect on your own skills and biases.
