Introduction
In recent years, BIM has become the top priority for the construction industry as it is becoming a mandatory requirement for more and more projects. This unit is aimed at teaching the basic principles of BIM and the introduction of one of the most popular BIM tools – REVIT. Sessions will be run mainly in the PC lab. Students will learn about three core BIM areas: introduction to BIM and Revit, application of BIM in structural design and architecture and application of BIM in building services design. Given the importance of BIM in the construction industry, this unit is of extreme value not only to civil engineering students and architecture students, but also all other engineering students who may be involved in building services (mechanical and electrical engineering students).
