Engineering Project B unit (ENG702)

Introduction

Engineering Project A and Engineering Project B will normally be taken consecutively in the final two semesters of the degree. Each student is required to undertake a substantial high level two-semester project within their engineering discipline, which may involve aspects of research and development work, engineering design, literature survey, experimental work, theoretical work, computational studies, simulation, prototype testing and implementation. Masters projects are required to have a significant research component to develop skills required for a research higher degree (PhD). At the end of Engineering Project B a typset, printed and bound thesis is to be submitted along with an electronic copy of the final thesis which is submitted via Turnitin. The electronic copy will be retained for the University of Tasmania library thesis collection. Students are also expected to do a public presentation of their completed work at the end of the semester.

Teaching Pattern

There will be an initial introductory information class in week 1.
Students are expected to have weekly consultations with their supervisor of a minimum 1/2 hour.
There will be semi-regular general seminars/lectures on topics related to research and thesis preparation.
