Introduction
In this unit mechanical engineering students will design solutions to a real-world engineering problem using the engineering design process. Initial research conducted will be used to develop a set of project requirements and scope. A holistic design process will start from concept design to detail design and will include critical analysis of solutions. The project provided will be industry based so that students obtain first hand experience working on an industry based project.

| Teaching Pattern | The unit involves one 2-hour workshop and one 1-hour tutorial each week during semester. Supporting information and videos will be made available on-line via the MyLo page for the unit. There is one industry-based activity in week 6 that will require attendance at an engineering site within short distance from campus. All workshops and tutorials will be held at the Sandy Bay campus, unless otherwise specified. |
