This unit is an introduction to a range of concepts that are fundamental to understanding electrical theory. You will develop an understanding of electrical circuits and circuit analysis through workshops, tutorials, and laboratory work. The unit provides you with the opportunity to become familiar with safe operation and efficient use of electrical/electronic testing equipment.

- Analyse and solve complex AC and DC electrical circuits by applying fundamental laws, network theorems, and nodal analysis techniques
- Evaluate the operation and performance of transformers and rotating electrical machines (induction and synchronous) using magnetic circuit models and fundamental electromagnetic principles.
- Conduct experiments on electrical systems using professional measurement equipment in a controlled laboratory environment
- Report on circuit analysis experiments that require precise measurement and strict adherence to electrical safety standards.
