Railway Control Systems Engineering Fundamentals - The Subsystems unit (JEE560)

Location: Online

Introduction

This unit develops your understanding of the fundamental requirements for a train control system and the core subsystems that deliver safe railway operation. You will examine the operating principles of the principal signalling subsystems, including train detection, points, signals, level crossings, telecommunications, train protection, interlocking, and operator interfaces, building the ability to analyse subsystem problems within their operational context. Through study of how these subsystems connect to each other and to the wider railway, you will evaluate the interfaces and interactions between railway control systems, communications, and related systems, gaining the foundational knowledge required to progress to specialist signalling study.
