Railway Safety and Systems Engineering unit (JEE562)

Location: Online

Introduction

This unit develops your understanding of safety and systems engineering principles applied to railway control systems throughout the asset lifecycle. You will explore railway operations, considering human, economic, technological, environmental and community factors, alongside competence management, accident investigation, and ethical considerations. Through the application and analysis of safety engineering methodologies - including hazard assessment, failure analysis, and safety case development - and systems engineering techniques such as requirements management, interface management, reliability engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis, you will gain the essential knowledge and skills to ensure railway control systems are designed, integrated, and managed safely and efficiently across their entire lifecycle.

Note

Please check that your computer meets the minimum System Requirements if you are attending via Distance/Off-Campus.

Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
