Principles of Railway Control Systems - Functionality and Subsystems unit (JEE564)

Introduction

This unit further develops your understanding of railway control systems principles with emphasis on interlocking functionality and signalling equipment. You will explore the operational principles of diverse signalling equipment, including train detection, points, wayside signals, level crossings, and interlockings, while applying design principles to develop control tables and aspect sequence charts. Through analysis of signalling system development processes - encompassing safety and reliability apportionment, testing and commissioning, and electromagnetic compatibility - and examination of communications systems principles, including protocols, network management, and frequency allocation, you will gain comprehensive knowledge of how these sub systems integrate to ensure safe and reliable railway operations.
