Applications of Railway Control Systems unit (JEE665)

Introduction

This unit develops your understanding of the practical application of railway control systems equipment throughout the asset lifecycle from specification through decommissioning. You will explore the properties, applications, and limitations of control equipment, command equipment, and ancillary systems, while analysing environmental factors including weather conditions, electromagnetic interference, and cyber threats that impact equipment performance. Through examination of lifecycle management at each stage - type approval, design, construction, testing, maintenance, and decommissioning - and specification of implementation strategies encompassing business goals, operational concepts, contractual arrangements, and competence frameworks, you will gain the essential skills to deploy and manage railway control systems in real-world contexts successfully.
