Introduction
Students develop, implement and carry out a research project under the supervision of at least one staff member from the Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics or UTAS. The progress and outcomes of the research are assessed in the form of a research proposal, interim report, executive summary, oral presentation and a written thesis in journal article format.

- Develop innovative research concepts and implement creative problem-solving approaches for effective documentation and management of research processes.
- Evaluate existing methodologies through systematic literature review to propose evidence-based improvements for a selected research problem.
- Conduct comprehensive hazard identification and risk assessment to systematically evaluate and mitigate threats to project progression, personnel safety, and equipment integrity.
- Develop a validated solution to assigned engineering problems using experimental methods, numerical simulation tools, and/or supervisor-approved methodologies under realistic project constraints.
- Develop effective technical communication through written documentation and oral presentations when conveying complex engineering concepts and research findings to diverse audiences.
- Produce original contributions to the maritime engineering discipline by justifying novel components, system improvements, or value-added solutions using industry-standard methodologies.

| Teaching Pattern | Once-off research project seminar/conference will be held by the end of semester, and last whole date for all students of Dissertation C to present their research projects in form of oral presentations which are assessed by examiners. A student will submit an excecutive summary and present her/his research project using PowerPoint. |
