Introduction
Air transport plays a crucial role in the global economy by facilitating the rapid movement of both passengers and freight, and enabling international trade, tourism, and business. In Australia, air transport is a vital component of both the economy and daily life due to the country's vast size and geographic isolation. This Unit covers various topics including air transport value chain and its historical development, supply and demand in the aviation industry, airline business models and operations, airport components and operations, performance measures in aviation, and pricing and revenue management strategies in air transport. The Unit will also cover impacts of major trends and driving forces such as sustainability, safety, security, and Industry 4.0 in the aviation industry. Through case studies and practical applications, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the air transport industry.
