2027 Unit information is now available. View 2027 unit information

Location: Launceston, Online

Introduction

This unit introduces you to the theory and practice of competitively managing people in the workplace.  Throughout your study you will be asked to place yourself in the position of a Talent Manager and to use your creativity and ingenuity in mapping out people management strategies that will help Transport and Logistics (T&L) organisations maintain a competitive edge.

More specifically, we explore the employment relationship and the importance of managing people individually and collectively within this relationship from their initial recruitment through to their retirement or termination. In working through this unit, it should become evident that effective people management is an important means of creating value, developing and creating a competitive advantage for T&L organisations in the 21st century. This unit is a contemporary approach focusing on the strategy and practice of Human Resource Management utilising case studies to understand the process of building and nurturing people to sustain competitive advantage.
