Introduction
This unit involves the planning and coordination of goods transported by sea and air. The unit familiarises students with the role of freight management in international trade. It examines the techniques, practices and technologies utilised in customer-driven sea-freight and air-freight transportation. The unit introduces students to sea-freight operations involving containerised cargo with a focus on container logistics and intermodal operations. Air-freight operations are studied from both logistics and cargo handling perspectives.. The unit also examines how evolving stakeholder expectations are reshaping freight management, particularly in relation to the environmental and social impacts of freight transport.
