Introduction

The aim of this unit is to provide an introduction to shipping markets, and to illustrate the strategies, principles and practice of commercial ship management. The unit is arranged in 12 modules. Ship chartering and charterparties are essential elements of commercial ship management and therefore a significant portion of this unit is devoted to these topics. The unit also considers the role of liner shipping and examines liner shipping strategies and operations in contemporary contexts.
