Geospatial Project unit (KGG355)

Introduction

This geospatial project unit allows you to undertake a significant investigative project in a chosen field within the broad discipline of geospatial science. This will be achieved via guidance of the unit coordinator and unit materials. Through this project, you will gain insight into project management skills including project design, methods development, data collection, data management and analysis, client/supervisor meetings, report writing and presentation. You will undertake your project under the direct supervision of one or more academic staff from the School of Geography, Planning, and Spatial Sciences.

Requisites

Prerequisites

Any 2 intermediate level geospatial units plus any 2 advanced level geospatial units

Teaching

Teaching Pattern	Weekly 1 hour seminars delivered on campus and online in weeks 1-5 and 12 of semester (6 x 1 hour seminars in total). Weekly half hourly meetings between student and project supervisor (in person or online), from weeks 2 to 12. If field work is a required element of the project, arrangements will be made in consultation with the project supervisor.  Self-scheduled independent study of approximately 10 hours per week. You will be working on your project during this time.

Textbooks

Required	Reading materials will be project specific. The review of literature relevant to each project will be discussed in seminars at the start of the unit.
