Introduction
Land development projects are a key component of the work program for many surveying firms. The surveyors’ role in these projects requires them to have knowledge of subdivision infrastructure in order to effectively communicate with engineers, draftspeople and planners throughout the design and construction process.
In this unit, you will be introduced to subdivision design methodologies for roads, drainage, water reticulation and sewerage systems, according to relevant Australian Standards, planning legislation and codes of practice. In the practical component of the unit, you will use relevant software to design and prepare road, water, and drainage infrastructure plans for a proposed new subdivision on a parcel of vacant land.
