ICT Professional Practice Preparation unit (KIT520)

Introduction

This unit provides a practical and theoretical introduction to what it means to be an ICT professional to help you plan and manage a successful career. You will develop an awareness of the skills, work ethic, and expectations required of ICT professionals. You will further develop your English language and communication knowledge and skills to the standards required for successful transition to professional practice. You will develop an appreciation of the issues ICT professionals can encounter and how professionals should respond. Students will develop an awareness of their responsibilities as future ICT professionals, particularly in the areas of information privacy, security and ethics. As part of this unit, you will apply for placement positions that can be undertaken in KIT706 ICT Professional Experience. If you pass KIT520 and are successful in attaining a placement, you will be permitted to enrol in KIT706.

Teaching Pattern	Lecture 2 hours in week 1 Tutorials 2 hours fortnightly Micro-credentials and Assessment: Students will also be required to complete a series of industry certifications and assessment tasks. Students will be required to attend presentations by industry members as organised throughout the semester.
