Completion of the professional placement (PEP) component of this unit will enable students to apply broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge in professional contexts, demonstrate initiative and judgement in planning and problem-solving, communicate knowledge and skills to others in professional settings, and take responsibility for personal learning and performance within structured workplace environments.

Introduction

This unit provides students with industry-based learning in the agricultural sector. Students undertake a structured work placement within an agricultural enterprise, agribusiness firm, government agency, industry body, or related organisation. The unit integrates academic knowledge with professional practice, enabling students to apply scientific knowledge to real-world practice.

Students will critically reflect on workplace practices, analyse management operations, and evaluate decision-making processes within their host organisation. Emphasis is placed on professional conduct, communication, problem-solving, and the development of employability skills aligned with contemporary agricultural environments.
