Introduction
KSA726 offers an interdisciplinary exploration into the management of marine and Antarctic environments. You will be introduced to the core concepts of governance, policy and management and contemporary management practices with a focus on the science-policy interface. You will explore contemporary management issues related to climate change, habitat loss and restoration, fisheries and aquaculture management, and Antarctic environmental management.
The unit emphasises critical evaluation and practical problem-solving, enabling you to develop scientifically informed solutions to complex environmental challenges. Throughout the unit, you will apply your knowledge and skills to analyse conflicting information and develop practical and policy-based solutions. By engaging with real-world case studies and scenarios, you will gain valuable insights into the complexities of managing marine and Antarctic environments in the face of global challenges such as climate change and increasing industrialisation of marine systems.
