This unit is only for students enrolled in the AIEN SHOU BIS Program.  

Introduction

This unit extends the students' knowledge and experience of programming. It introduces dynamic data structures, foundational collection abstract data types, and computational algorithms and techniques. Programming is undertaken in Python and Java and topics include: references, memory management, self-referential data structures, abstract data types and their implementation, and an introduction to algorithm complexity.

Teaching Pattern

On-Campus enrolments at Shanghai Ocean University: 

  • Lectures ("Seminars"): 2x1 hr/wk
  • Lab Classes ("Tutorials"): 1x2 hrs/wk (from week 1)
  • Independent Learning: 2 hrs/wk (on average)


For this unit, students are expected to attend lectures and on-campus lab classes and are expected to remain up-to-date with content which is delivered asynchronously on-line.
