Marine Construction and Fabrication Techniques unit (JVE148)

Introduction

This unit equips students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to plan, manage, and execute marine engineering maintenance and fabrication tasks on-board ships. Students will learn to effectively use and manage fabrication machinery and tools, including manual metal arc welding techniques, heat treatment, cast iron welding, and metal cutting operations. Additionally, they will perform brazing and silver soldering on soft joints, as well as undertake fabrication work on machinery and associated metal parts.  

This unit meets the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency standards set out by the current Maritime Training Package, the STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments), Table A-III/1 of the STCW Code, and AMSA Marine Order 72.
