Introduction

This unit explores identity and diversity in the context of individuals, their lived experiences and the supports that contribute to health, wellbeing, inclusion and participation. Through self-awareness and critical reflection, you will examine your own values, beliefs and self-care needs, alongside those of others, to develop a deeper understanding of personhood and the positive, respectful and empowering relationships that underpin effective professional practice. You will explore diversity through a range of cultural and social contexts and examine the principles of human rights, equity, justice, and self-determination, considering how they can influence people's experiences of inclusion, safety, belonging and participation.

Teaching

Teaching Pattern

2 x 2-hour online tutorials and 1 x 3-hour online workshop per semester. 6-hours per week of asynchronous, self-directed engagement with online learning materials and activities. 4-hours per week (on average, peaking around assessment task due dates) of independent study associated with the completion of assessment tasks.
