Introduction

This unit examines the foundations of mental health and wellbeing for individuals, families and communities. Your learning will be underpinned by models of consumer engagement, social inclusion and human rights. Using a bio-psycho-social and systems-thinking approach, you will critically examine the personal experiences of mental health and wellbeing challenges and the options for support. Emphasis is placed on service development, contextual safety and relational approaches for supporting and promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Teaching Pattern

2 x 2-hour online tutorials and 1 x 3-hour online workshop per semester; plus independent and self-directed learning and study, including online learning materials and activities, online discussion boards, reflections, 'record of learning' activities, and assessment tasks.
