Open Day is just around the corner!

Whether you’re passionate about helping others, teaching a classroom, or seeing what it’s really like to be work in a courtroom, we’ve got the right expertise to help you decide on a fantastic and fulfilling future career.

1. A Day in the Life of a Law Student

Do the rules of society fascinate you? Law is a popular and hugely rewarding course of study, and our Law school has a stellar reputation for teaching and research excellence. Come along to this talk and find out what it’s really like studying Law from the experts: our students!

When: All day.

Where: Foyer and courtyard, Law building.

2. Unearthing the Treasures of the Classics Museum

At the top of the stairs above the University’s bustling Lazenby’s cafe is a hidden treasure….filled with hidden treasures! Come and explore the John Elliott Classics Museum. View the ancient Egyptian and Roman artefacts and learn about the daily lives of people living in these ancient societies. This significant and valuable collection includes an Egyptian tomb door and a Roman military sword. This is the perfect activity if you’re keen on history and classics.

When: 12pm and 2pm.

Where: John Elliott Classics Museum (meet at the Humanities Hangout in front of Lazenby’s.)

3. 1000 Food-Cans-For-Charity Challenge

Help the Social Work discipline and TasCOSS collect 1000 food cans for Tasmanians doing it tough. Please bring donations to the collection points at the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences marquee. While you're there chat to us about our courses and how you can lead social change with a career in social work.

When: All day.

Where: Social Sciences Hangout beside the fountain, near Lazenby’s.

4. Career Confessions of a Teacher

What’s it REALLY like being a teacher? Come to this Faculty of Education presentation and hear about the victories and challenges of working in one of the most rewarding professions there is: teaching. Stick around to ask questions about our range of education courses. Whether you’re just leaving Year 12 or you’ve been teaching for a while and want to add to your skills, there’s something for everyone.

When: 1pm.

Where: Education Hangout beside the fountain, near Lazenby’s.

5. Faculty of Law Student Moot

Come down to our Moot Court (a replica court where students present legal arguments in hypothetical cases) inside the Law building and watch our students lay down the law! The Law student moot team is legendary, and recently took out top honours at a prestigious national mooting event. Come and see their skills in action.

When: 11am.

Where: Andrew Inglis Clark Moot Court (Law 223), Law building.
