About the research project
This project will address a critical gap in analytical science: the lack of effective techniques to extract and preconcentrate nanoplastics, essential for their reliable measurement. We will design innovative separation devices harnessing electric fields for the rapid, efficient, and highly selective isolation of nanoplastics from complex samples. This will deliver transformative tools and methods for measuring the extent of nanoplastics pollution, thereby improving our ability to assess our exposure to these scarcely characterize pollutants. By advancing separation science, this project will significantly improve our ability to monitor emerging nanopollutants, generating substantial economic, environmental, and public health benefits.
