University of Tasmania to Host IEEE PES AUPEC 2026 in Hobart

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is proud to host the 2026 IEEE PES Australasian Universities Power Engineering Conference (AUPEC), one of the region’s most respected gatherings for researchers, students, and industry professionals in power and energy engineering.

Now in its 36th year, AUPEC continues a strong tradition of academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration across Australasia and beyond under the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) banner.

From 02 to 06 November 2026, UTAS will welcome delegates to Hobart, Australia, for several days of knowledge exchange, collaboration, and discussion on the future of power and energy systems.

The theme of AUPEC 2026 is:

“Smart, Sustainable and Secure: Shaping the Next Generation Grid”

As power systems continue to evolve in response to decarbonisation, digitalisation, electrification, and growing system complexity, the 2026 theme reflects the need to develop electricity networks that are not only sustainable, but also intelligent, resilient, and secure.

AUPEC 2026 will showcase original research, practical innovations, and emerging technologies across a broad range of power engineering topics, including power system operation and planning, stability and control, renewable energy systems, energy storage, smart grids, AI applications, electric vehicles, microgrids, cybersecurity, condition monitoring, asset management, high-voltage engineering, and power engineering education.
