Our sites

The Rural Clinical School has two campuses based at Burnie and Mersey. There are excellent facilities that provide opportunities for medical, nursing and allied health undergraduate clinical training, postgraduate clinical training, and professional support.

Burnie

The Rural Clinical School’s Burnie campus was initially built in February 2006 with further upgrades completed in 2010 to address growing student demand.

Located between the North-West Private Hospital and North-West Regional Hospital, the Burnie campus is the main site for students and staff and where the majority of our academic programs are delivered.

Staff and student lounges overlook the nearby stretch of coastline, offering picturesque views of Bass Strait towards Table Cape further west.

Mersey

The Rural Clinical School’s Mersey campus is located within the Mersey Community Hospital in the idyllic North-West town of Latrobe.

Students have trained at the site since 2006, with the RCS occupying a section of the second level.

The Mersey campus serves the teaching and learning needs of medical students, junior doctors, postgraduate students and a wide range of health professionals and students in the region.
