Double Degrees. Create your own study experience

Why study a double degree?

We believe that university is about more than just gaining workplace skills. It should be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that changes the way you see the world.

Our new double degrees allow you to deepen your knowledge and expertise within two separate study areas. This means you can choose from our range of exciting, diverse courses and embark on a journey as unique as you are.

If you were planning on studying two degrees, this is a much faster way of doing it. It's also your chance to pursue a career and follow your passion at the same time.

  • Build your own unique set of skills
  • Study for your career and yourself

Customise your own double degree

To customise your own double degree, follow these easy steps:

  • Step 1: Find out if your double degree is compatible by checking the customisable list below.
  • Step 2: Apply and enter your desired combination into eApp by searching course name Double degree (4 year) (X3Y) and entering the degree names. If you would like to study a double degree in Law or Agricultural Science you will need to search course name Double degree (5 year) (X3Z).
  • Step 3: A friendly member of the Admissions or Recruitment team will contact you.
  • Step 4: Don’t worry if your desired combination doesn’t appear below, please contact us and we’ll see if we can combine the degrees you’re interested in.

Double degrees allow you to complete two degrees in a shorter time than completing both separately.

In a double you complete all the core, major and discipline elective requirements of both courses.
But you do not need to complete the elective requirements for either course.

This means that you’ll complete the two courses in a shorter time frame. For example, the Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Psychological Science normally each take three years of full-time study to complete. But the double only takes four years of full-time study to complete in total.

When you graduate from a double degree you will receive a separate degree certificate (also called a testamur) for each component course.

Because double degrees don’t have any electives, you might need to choose your major from the start of your studies and changing majors might add additional time to your studies. We recommend all double degree students speak to course advisors before you start your studies for assistance with your study plan.

You'll need to apply for your double degree through eApp. If you have chosen a popular double degree combination, it will be listed as a course with its own code.

If your desired combination is not listed and you want to customise your degree, you will need to select Double degree (4 year) (X3Y) or Double degree (5 year) (X3Z) and enter the names of the degrees you would like to study.

When you have selected these, the admissions team will be in contact to discuss your options. You will graduate with both of the degrees that you complete.

If you study full time, most of our double degrees can be completed in four years. However, if you undertake double degrees in Law or Agricultural Science, these will take five years.

To be eligible, you must meet the entry requirements of both degrees. You can find these on the individual course pages.
