Overview

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is Australia's national agency responsible for maritime safety, protection of the marine environment, and maritime aviation search and rescue. We are motivated by our vision of 'Safe and clean seas, saving lives'. As Australia’s national regulatory body, we promote the safety and protection of our marine environment and combat ship-sourced pollution. We provide the infrastructure for safety of navigation in Australian waters, and maintain a national search and rescue service for the maritime and aviation sectors. One (1) IMAS Environmental Excellence AMSA Scholarship is available.

Eligibility

  • Available to a student commencing the first or second year of the Master of Marine and Antarctic Science at the Institute for Marine & Antarctic Studies (IMAS) in Semester 1, 2024.
  • Selection will be based on academic merit, and the applicant’s aspiration to work in the industry and having career goals which align with AMSA’s vision and mission.
  • The program provides specialist streams to pursue in-depth learning in a particular area of marine science, paired with broader research methodology and a research project.
  • It will assist graduates in contributing to world issues such as seafood production and security, climate change and marine stewardship.
  • Mentoring by an AMSA employee may be available for the successful applicant.
  • The opportunity for work placements with AMSA may be available for the successful applicant.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
