Allison Shand graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2006 with a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts. Allison was a dedicated prosecutor within the Tasmanian Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions where she held the very senior position of Principal Crown Counsel. Allison was known as an exceptionally talented advocate, she was professional, fair, hardworking and gave selflessly to support and mentor other prosecutors. Allison changed the lives of countless victims and vulnerable Tasmanians through her work. Outside of work, Allison was an unassuming, kind, funny and loyal friend. She was loved by many. Allison unexpectedly passed away aged 38 in November 2020. Allison’s family, in honour of Allison’s invaluable contribution to the Tasmanian community, have established this endowed scholarship to give deserving female students the opportunity to undertake study at the University of Tasmania.
Eligibility
Available to female students commencing Bachelor of Laws (L3C) at the University of Tasmania in Semester 1 2022. Selection will be based on evidence of financial need.
On-going Eligibility
- Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
