Overview

Donald James Gaffney was a Bachelor of Science Honours graduate of the University of Tasmania in 1949, majoring in the fields of chemistry and geology. He was always supportive of women’s education, and often discussed the issue of declining number of women studying and researching in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths. Following his death in 2014 this scholarship was created in his memory by his family.
Applicants should forward a copy of the referee's report to two referees.

Eligibility

  • Available to a female student from the north-west or north of Tasmania commencing Honours or Masters (coursework or research) in the College of Sciences and Engineering OR commencing a Master of Teaching at the University of Tasmania in Semester 1, 2024.

On-going Eligibility

  • Maintain a GPA of 5 or above

$25,000 per year
