Overview

This scholarship is generously provided by the family of the late Robert James Hand whose gift will support a student in financial need to study Law at the University of Tasmania. Robert James Hand received a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Tasmania in 1964. Robert practised law in Hobart until his retirement due to illness in 1998. He understood the necessity and had enormous capacity for an in-depth understanding of the companies with which he worked. His attention to detail helped him to become, in his time, one of the most highly respected commercial lawyers in Australia. The award is offered as part of the University of Tasmania Access Scholarship scheme.
