Overview

This scholarship was established to honour distinguished musician the late Professor Jan Sedivka whose tenure at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music lasted from 1966 until his death in 2009. Czech-born Jan Sedivka was one of Australia's foremost violinists and teachers. His contribution to the advancement of classical music in Tasmania, Australia and around the world was significant. This scholarship was established to support outstanding students to pursue a passion for string music.

Eligibility

  • Available to an outstanding student commencing Honours, Masters or PhD study in classical music (strings – violin, viola, double-bass or cello) at the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music in Semester 2, 2024.
  • Selection will be based on the applicant's demonstrable proficiency and playing ability in violin, viola, double-bass or cello.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
