Overview

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania is committed to the conservation of Tasmanian wildlife and to the future of conservation science, as reflected by their financial support of this endowed scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Available to a student commencing Honours in the School of Biological Sciences in Semester 2, 2024.
  • The research project must encompass wildlife conservation and management related to priority areas identified by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania and provided to the University.
  • One priority for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania is increasing our understanding of species abundance and trends.Understanding the factors that influence wildlife populations is an important part of conservation management.
  • Potential projects could include:
    • Utilising existing the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania data-sets to establish and/or update our understanding of status and trends;
    • Reviewing long-term Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania monitoring methods and data-sets in the context of their efficacy for informing management.
  • The award will be determined by the quality of the proposed project and demonstration of academic merit.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
  • Continue full-time study
