Overview
Avant is a member-owned organisation committed to supporting doctors in their professional and personal lives. Avant Foundation’s aim is to foster the next generation of medical practitioners by providing a scholarship to current or commencing students undertaking their first year of an undergraduate degree in medicine at the University. This scholarship promotes equitable access to medical education by supporting students who face financial or systemic barriers.
Eligibility
- The scholarship is available to current or commencing students undertaking their first year of undergraduate study in medicine.
- Selection will be based on the applicant’s demonstration of financial need.
- Preference will be given to students who experience one or more forms of disadvantage, including those who are:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
- Living in regional, rural, remote, or very remote areas;
- From low socio-economic backgrounds;
- Living with disability;
- Part of the LGBTIQ+ community;
- From culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Applicants are required to be an Avant student member. Membership is free. More information can be found here.
On-going Eligibility
- Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
Amount
$10,000. Successful applicants will also attend Avants signature annual event in Sydney, with travel and attendance included as part of the scholarship.
