Overview
This scholarship has been established by the Estate of the late Douglas Warren Gilson. The purpose of this scholarship is to enable a student from a rural and remote area of Australia with a passion for the maritime sector to access maritime education and study a course at the Australian Maritime College in Launceston, Tasmania.
Eligibility
- Available to students who reside in rural and remote areas of Australia, including Tasmania, with a preference for applicants from areas classified MM 2 - MM 7 using the Modified Monash Model.
- Preference will be given to students who have to reside away from home in order to attend university.
- Available to students commencing any undergraduate degree at the Australian Maritime College (AMC).
- Selection will be based on the applicant’s expressed passion and demonstrated commitment for their chosen field of study.
- Preference will also be given to students with demonstrated financial need and expression of how the scholarship will help them succeed.
