Overview

This generous Fellowship results from a bequest to the University of Tasmania by the late Dr Elizabeth Cobbold to allow current students and graduates to be supported financially while they undertake practical humanitarian activities. Dr Elizabeth Cobbold had a long career in implementing medical policy in Tasmania, particularly in women’s health. Emeritus Professor Arthur Cobbold AM OBE was Dean of Medicine at the University of Tasmania between 1969-1982.

Eligibility

  • Available to both current students and recent graduates from University of Tasmania’s School of Medicine (7 years or less since graduation).
  • The recipient must be available to undertake practical humanitarian activities for at least 6 months with mainland Indigenous communities and/or with recognised international humanitarian organisations (for example Medecins San Frontiers).
