Overview

This scholarship is not due to open for applications again.

Margaret Annette Bartkevicius dedicated her life and energies to the education of children through the arts, science and dance. From her humble beginnings growing up in Invermay then working as kindergarten teacher in Rossarden she launched into a career of engaging Infant Educators through her science education consultancy around the state of Tasmania and then moving onto her role of Superintended of Infant Education with the Tasmanian Education Department. One of Margaret’s greatest achievements was developing relationships with every teacher in every school in her region and visiting them on a regular basis. Once retired, she focused her passion and energy into the arts acting as a Tas Dance Board member and pursuing porcelain painting. She spent her retirement years painting and dedicated her time to teaching the skills to many Launceston school children. Margaret’s creative, passionate approach to life, education, dance and the arts finally lead to her greatest honour of being awarded an OAM for her contribution to dance and to the community of Tasmania in 2021. Before her death Margaret ‘s wish was to create a scholarship to provide an opportunity for a mature aged female Tasmanian who shows commitment in her studies and leadership in the area of Arts Education.
