Overview
This scholarship is provided by the generosity of a Tasmanian-born businessman to support a place-based research project relevant to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), facilitated through the Highland Conservation Pty Ltd and Cape Herbert Pty Ltd agricultural properties.
Eligibility
- Available to a student who is commencing an honours degree in any discipline within the College of Sciences and Engineering in Semester 2, 2024.
- The successful recipient will be encouraged to complete the research component of their honours project on site at one of the following properties:
- Highland Conservation Pty Ltd, Gunns Plains (North West Tasmania)
- Highland Conservation Pty Ltd, Cockatoo Hills (Tasmanian Central Highlands)
- Selection will be based on academic merit and on the suitability of the proposed Honours project in relation to the properties mentioned above.
- It is recommended applicants discuss their proposed honours project with their supervisor prior to submitting their application.
- Applicants and supervisors are required to ensure that the research can be designed so that at least part of the project can be completed at one of the listed properties.
On-going Eligibility
- Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester

$6,000 (plus a further $2,000 for the school for costs associated with the project)
