Old Hobartian Max Brown Scholarship

Overview

This Scholarship is made possible by the late Maxwell (Max) Brown, who left a bequest to the University of Tasmania, to be directed to the Old Hobartian Centenary Scholarship Fund. Max was a Life Member of the Old Hobartian Association (OHA), which continues to provide a forum for former students of Hobart High School, Hobart Matriculation College and Hobart College to meet socially with their peers, celebrate their history and enjoy each other’s company. Max’s generous donation will fund an additional perpetual OHA scholarship to support a graduating Year 12 Hobart College students, enrolling in any course at the University of Tasmania.

Eligibility

  • Available to a Tasmanian resident who is commencing study in any undergraduate degree in the first half of 2027 after recently completing Years 11 and 12 at Hobart College (not more than two years prior to commencing at the University).
  • Selection will be based on academic ability, financial need, contribution to College life, leadership, and work ethic.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate community service through volunteering, community work, or other extracurricular activities.
