This scholarship was established to honour distinguished musician the late Professor Jan Sedivka whose tenure at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music lasted from 1966 until his death in 2009. Czech-born Jan Sedivka was one of Australia's foremost violinists and teachers. His contribution to the advancement of classical music in Tasmania, Australia and around the world was significant. This scholarship was established to support outstanding students to pursue a passion for string music.

Eligibility

  • The scholarship is available to a commencing student undertaking the Bachelor of Music, who is planning on specialising in stringed instruments at the University of Tasmania’s Conservatorium of Music.
  • The successful award recipient will be selected based on musical merit.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
