Overview
Dr Peter Smith OAM was a much-respected, long-time teacher and researcher in Chemistry at the University of Tasmania. He was also a long-standing supporter of the University's scholarships program and made these awards available to encourage talented students to study Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the University. Sadly, Dr Smith passed away in July 2017, aged 93. These scholarships are open to both current students and commencing students enrolling in a Bachelor of Science degree who intend to major, or are majoring, in at least one of the following chemistry, mathematics or physics. Eligibility
- Available to students with academic potential who are commencing or continuing in the Bachelor of Science or combined science degree in Semester 1, 2027 and who are or will be majoring in one or more of the following areas: chemistry, mathematics or physics.
- Selection will be based on academic merit and financial need.
- For commencing students preference will be given to student that are enrolling in subjects from all three disciplines of chemistry, mathematics and physics.

- Maintain a GPA of 5 or above

Up to three years (does not include separate one-year Honours course)
