Overview
Originally known as the ‘Tasmania University Sports Scholarship’, the University of Tasmania introduced these scholarships in 1992 to help outstanding University of Tasmania student athletes achieve their sporting and academic goals. To ensure the long-term existence of this Scholarships Program, the University of Tasmania Sports Scholarship Trust was established in 2002 with generous contributions from the Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA). All applicants for the Elite Sports Scholarship are encouraged to apply for the Elite Athlete Program
Eligibility
- Available to both commencing and current students who excel in sport and are undertaking any undergraduate or postgraduate degree course in the first half of 2027.
- Students who receive a Sports Scholarship are expected to represent University of Tasmania at UniSport Nationals and Championship events.
- Ten awards are available; up to six for Tasmanian students or students from Interstate, one for a student who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, one Para athlete scholarship, and two Emerging athlete scholarship (1 Male and 1 Female).
On-going Eligibility
- Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
Amount
$2,000 cash incentive plus a 12 month UniGym student membership (or equivalent professional development opportunity depending upon the sport).
