Overview

This scholarship has been established by TADtas, a volunteer led organisation that supported the Tasmanian community for over 30 years by designing and creating technical aids (Assistive Technology) for people living with disability.

With the closing of operations in 2024, TADTas has generously donated its funds to the University to endow an annual scholarship available in perpetuity, which aims to encourage students to engage in the innovative development of Assistive Technologies to assist those living with disability.

Students interested in working on the development of Assistive Technologies, or students studying a qualification which utilises Assistive Technology are all encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

  • This Scholarship is available to a student who is working on the development of or studying in the field of Assistive Technology.
  • The successful recipient will demonstrate how this scholarship will help them:
  • Develop Assistive Technology and/or
  • Complete a qualification which will work on the development and/or utilisation of Assistive Technologies
  • The scholarship is available to students undertaking study in any discipline at the University including, but not limited to, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Engineering, Design, and Information Technology.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are first in their family to attend University and/or can demonstrate financial need.
  • Domestic and International students are encouraged to apply.
  • Students who have held this scholarship previously are also encouraged to re-apply.
