Overview

This award has been generously established by Ashley Townsend, former student, longstanding staff member, Alumni Chair and member of the University Council, who was raised, educated and completed his first year of study with the University of Tasmania in Burnie. The award seeks to recognise and encourage a student who has achieved outstanding success in their first year of study at the University of Tasmania, undertaken in full at the Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie.

Eligibility

  • Available to an undergraduate student who has completed their first year of study enrolled on campus at the University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Campus (Burnie).
  • Be enrolled full-time and continuing immediately into their second year in an undergraduate course at the University of Tasmania.
  • Current resident of the North West Coast.
  • Completed secondary schooling within the North West region.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (for example, GPA as determined by the selection panel).
  • Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate engagement and/or leadership within the University or North West community.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have not completed prior tertiary study before commencing their current undergraduate course.
  • This award is not available for the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine.

On-going Eligibility

  • Achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester
