Overview
This Prize is provided by Robert Hay KC, an Alum of the University of Tasmania Law School and current member of the Victorian Bar. Robert attended The Hutchins School and then commenced his undergraduate degree while working as a journalist at The Mercury. Robert thanks his property law lecturer, Ken Mackie, for arousing his interest in property law. After graduation he was offered a job as an articled clerk at Arthur Robinson & Hedderwicks (now Allens) in Melbourne before joining the Victorian Bar in 1992. At the Bar Robert was mentored by Clyde Croft (now Justice Croft) and was invited to co-write, among other things, the 3rd, 4th and 5th editions of Commercial Tenancy Law, the 3rd and 4th editions of The Mortgagee’s Power of Sale and has been asked to do a new edition of Fisher & Lightwood’s Law of Mortgage.
Robert maintains a strong connection to Tasmania and has established this prize to give back into the university where he enjoyed doing his arts degree and law degree.
Eligibility
The Prize will be awarded for the highest proficiency in LAW354 Propery Law with at least a pass with distinction.
