Overview
In 2024 Jocelyn Watson was elevated to the status of Life Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. She is also a Fellow of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice (now called ACP}, awarded 1993. Jocelyn practiced pharmacy for over 50 years in Launceston as a locum pharmacist, with multiple roles including: providing advice and counselling, mentor, Chair and Director of the United Friendly Society Board in Launceston, Pharmacy Educator, Pharmacy Board Inspector, and she also promoted networking opportunities for women pharmacists. Jocelyn is a staunch advocate of the benefits of education and lifelong learning and has established this prize for a pharmacy student to recognise the qualities of clinical competence, together with care and empathy. This reflects her lived values.
Eligibility
Awarded to a second year Pharmacy student studying in Launceston, who can demonstrate their dedication to patient care within a community pharmacy, and who is confirmed through their community pharmacy preceptor assessment to demonstrates empathy, integrity, and honesty.
