Overview

This prize is awarded as part of the Rosamond McCulloch Studio Residency selection. To be considered please apply for the residency.

Marie Edwards, a graduate of the Tasmanian School of Art, holds a unique place in the Tasmanian art scene. During her ascent in the 1970s she was one of the few women artists in the State working seriously in the area of abstraction. Her works rank her amongst Tasmania's finest women artists.

Marie loved Paris, France and travelled there often to fuel her inspiration - something she could not afford to do while she was studying. She endowed this scholarship to enable postgraduate visual arts students to gain experience overseas to complement their study at the University of Tasmania.

Eligibility

Available to students currently undertaking postgraduate study in, or within three years of graduation from postgraduate study in, visual arts, craft or design at the University of Tasmania.

The prize can be used to assist with self-funded residencies at the McCulloch Studio in Paris, or other planned travel to France aimed at enhancing artistic practice. A separate online application must be completed for the Rosamond McCulloch Studio Residency.
