Alfred Joshua Hemming Houston, Esquire, practised as a barrister and solicitor in Sydney, and afterwards lived in retirement in Hobart. In his Will he bequeathed a sum of money for the purpose of endowing the Alfred Houston Prizes.
Awarded to a student who shows the greatest proficiency in 200 level core units in the Philosophy major, with at least a Distinction average in at least 25 percent of such units.
